The picture shows Naomi Herron who had not been on a beech since she was a child. Something stopped her = what do you think that might have been?

Naomi has cerebral palsy which meant she was unable to access the beech.

What is cerebral palsy?

Cerebral Palsy affects how a person moves and controls their body. The word cerebral refers to the brain and palsy refers to weakness or problems using muscles. Somone with cerebral palsy might have stiffness in their muscles or tremors. Sometimes people won't be able to move parts of their body.

Why did this man Naomi couldn't access the beech?

Five years ago, Naomi started campaigning with the Mae Murray Foundation; a charity to make beeches and water sports more accessible for those with disabilities.

What does accessible mean?
How do you think beeches and water sports can be made more accessible, What do you think Naomi needs to join in?

Naomi now has an adapted paddleboard with a seat bolted on and hand grips. This means Naomi can safely go on the water. Naomi says, "Being in the water makes me feel on top of the world. I loved it because  I felt like a fish in there and a mermaid. Now I feel like I'm part of a whole big community."

What does "on top of the world" mean? Why did Naomi feel like that?

"I absolutely love it because it gives me freedom that I never thought I would have had before"

Why is this about freedom? 
Why didn't Naomi just accept she just can't visit a beech and find something else to do instead? 

Was the reason Naomi couldn't access the beech before, because of her disability, or was it because no one had made the beech accessible? (She still has cerebral palsy now but she can access the beech - what has changed?)

Is there a law about this in the UK? (The Equality Act 2010; Disability is a protected characteristic)

Alligator

The female reptile, measuring just 49cm is one of only seven in the world. She is a Leucistic alligator. Leucistic alligators are the rarest of all alligators. The alligator has a brother born at the same time with skin the same colour as most other alligators. The alligator has been described as beautiful. The park is asking people to suggest a name for the reptile. Kamden uses a wheelchair and one day Paul was horrified when he saw his friend's chair tip up and Kamden fall out. The problem was Kamden had grown too big for his chair, but his family could not afford to buy a new one. Paul said, "His wheelchair has fallen forward so many times and that sucks. Also he has a really hard time pushing it because it's so heavy." Paul decided he needed to help his friend so he investigated ways to raise money. Paul asked his Mun to set up a Go Fund Me page to raise $3900 for a new chair. In 26 days the page had raised $5935!
