Bellingham

Jude Bellingham's heartfelt off-pitch gesture says everything about his character

What do you see in the picture, where are they, do you recognise anyone? What do you think this story is about?

In the picture we can see Jude Bellingham. Jude plays for the England team in the World Cup and at the game against Mexico scored 2 goals.

Who do you think the other man is?
Why do you think he is sitting down?

The other man in the picture is a reporter. He was trying to interview England players as they walked to their press conference after an earlier match.

All of the players walked past the man ignoring him.

Why do you think they did that? Are they being rude? Can you think of any reasons why it’s difficult for players to always stop for reporters?

Jude Bellingham was one of the last players to walk past, but he chose to stop. He listened to the reporter and answered questions. Jude realised the reporter was Spanish and even though he was asking questions in English, Jude answered in Spanish.

Why do you think he did this even though everyone else walked past?
Why speak in a different language?
What does that show about Jude Bellingham?

Jude was praised for his actions; “Jude Bellingham taking the time to answer a disabled reporter in the reporter’s first language shows genuine respect, empathy and an understanding that football is for everyone.”

What do these words mean?
Do you agree or disagree?
What do we do in our school to make sure everyone knows our school is for everyone?
Why is this about No Outsiders?
Which British Value is this about?
