Christmas family

                                      

What do you see in in the photo? What is happening, where are they, what do you notice about the group? Who do you think these people are and why are they together?

This photo is from last Christmas. You can see Mum with her family; "7 of my boys, all family, all loved"

How can they all be family?
Where are the children?
How can this mum have so many children in the same family (now grown up)?

When these men were younger, they all came to England needing a home. They needed someone to love them and take care of them and so Erin became their mum. 

What do you think the boys needed most from Erin?

Erin calls her family her boys . She says, "My boys smile, still they call me mum, still we celebrate Christmas, birthdays, EID, GCSE results, and new jobs- together."

What are Christmas and Eid?
Christmas and Eid are from different religions so why is a family celebrating both?
How can you celebrate two religious festivals in the same family?

"As one of my lads once said, when someone asked how we can be a family: "It's ok - we all have different dads."

Why do you think someone asked how they could be a family?
How do you think the boys felt when someone asked, "How can you be a family?" Is it ok to ask that?
What can we learn from Erin and her family?
Which British value is this about?

Alligator

  https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-67666626 An extremely rare white alligator was born at a wildlife park in Florida last year. The picture shows the baby alligator and her brother. The female reptile, measuring just 49cm is one of only seven in the world. She is a Leucistic alligator. Leucistic alligators are the rarest of all alligators. The alligator has a brother born at the same time with skin the same colour as most other alligators. The alligator has been described as beautiful. The park is asking people to suggest a name for the reptile. Kamden uses a wheelchair and one day Paul was horrified when he saw his friend's chair tip up and Kamden fall out. The problem was Kamden had grown too big for his chair, but his family could not afford to buy a new one. Paul said, "His wheelchair has fallen forward so many times and that sucks. Also he has a really hard time pushing it because it's so heavy." Paul decided he needed to help his friend so he investigated ways to raise money. Paul asked his Mun to set up a Go Fund Me page to raise $3900 for a new chair. In 26 days the page had raised $5935!
