https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-nottinghamshire-60235338 Lowri is 12 years old and lives in Cheshire, England. When she was 9, she wrote to Disney to ask if they could include a character in one of their films who wore glasses. In 2022 the film Encanto has a main character called Mirabel, who is funny and brave, and wears glasses. Lowri says she wrote the letter because she is the only person in her family who wears glasses. She says, "I felt a bit alone and didn't feel like I was beautiful enough." The film's director, Jared Bush, says when Lowri wrote to Disney, they were already planning on including a main character in Encanto who wore glasses, but he was not allowed to tell Lowri at the time that her wish was about to be made true. Lowri says, "I was just so happy that, even if it wasn't from my letter or anything, young girls and boys now have a role model to look up to." She says her glasses are an important part of her identity. "I w...

Rudolph

A reindeer in Lapland has shown the world that being different is fantastic and something to be proud of.  Rudolph has a bright red, shiny nose and in the past, other reindeers would laugh and call Rudolph names. The reindeers would not let Rudolph play in any of the reindeer games, including the favourite, monopoly. One year, Christmas Eve was plagued by a thick fog around the world and this proved to be a problem for Santa and the reindeers pulling his sleigh. Santa kept bumping in to tall tress and buildings; he crashed in to the Eiffel Tower in France and in to the Statue of Liberty in America. Santa needed a plan. Santa returned to Lapland to mend the bumps on his sleigh and he was stunned to see a bright red light near his home. The bright red light was Rudolph's nose and Santa had an idea; he politely asked, "Rudolph, with your nose so bright, won't you guide my sleigh tonight?" Rudolph was overjoyed to help and joined the other reindeers at...

He plays in orchestras all over the world and is touring for the next two years with the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra. Felix plays the French horn in a different way; he was born without arms so he plays using his foot.  Felix says that everyone says to him it must be so difficult to play the horn with your feet, but Felix says, "I can't really understand how you can hold a pencil with these long fingers!" When people ask him, "Is it difficult to play the French horn with your feet? he replies, "I don't know, I never played it with hands so I can't compare." Felix began to play the horn when he was three years old and was told many times that he would never be able to play professionally. But that just made him practise more. He says, "Even if people around are saying it's not pos...

https://www.theguardian.com/australia-news/2021/feb/26/strange-pale-penguin-rare-yellow-and-white-bird-discovered-among-king-penguins-in-atlantic A pale penguin with yellow feathers has been spotted among the hundreds of thousands of black and white King penguins on the beach at South Georgia. Scientists since have been debating how the penguin looks so different with some calling an albino penguin and some saying it could be in "ino-bird". Whatever the reason for it's difference, all the scientists are saying it is a beautiful bird.  Scientists are debating whether the bird will face disadvantage because of its different colour; for example, it could be easier to spot by prey and also the water will not camouflage the bird when it dives for food. However, others argue the bird is clearly an adult which means it has survived this far and shows it is adapting and doing well.  The photo was taken by Belgian photographer Yves Adams . Yves describes how the penguin gave him...
