Penguin dads
People across the world are celebrating the anniversary of a penguin family who have stayed together for three years.
Two boy penguins, Sphen and Magic got together in 2018 and since then have adopted two penguin chicks and recently built a new home.
When Sphen and Magic got together in 2018 they tried to incubate a rock by sitting on it, Keepers at Sea Life gave them an egg that another penguin couple were not able to look after and after two months it hatched. In 2020, the couple hatched another chick. The two dads are now entering their third season together and have recently moved house. The keepers say Sphen and Magic are one of the strongest couples in the penguin house; "They are a great example to the rest of the colony. They are inseparable and proving just how strong penguin bonds can be. We've noticed many of the newer penguin couples setting up their nests close to Sphen and Magic, which we think is them trying to learn from the best."
