multicultural society

What do you see in this photo?
This photo is a bit out of focus because it was taken on a moving camera phone. It was taken on Saturday.

Where do you think the people are?
The video was taken by Harjap Singh Bhangal at the Edgbaston cricket ground where there was a cricket match between India and Pakistan. Harjap says,
"India vs Pakistan, guys, no one is actually watching the cricket, everyone has come in to watch the football. And everyone here, regardless of whether they are supporting India or Pakistan, is supporting England."

The video shows hundreds of people watching the last penalty and the reaction from all the Indian and Pakistani fans to England wining the after a penalty shoot out.

In the comments under the video, people wrote,
"Anyone that lives in areas like Birmingham knows this is exactly what life is like."
"This is beautiful. So proud to be from a multicultural society."
"This is England"

- Why did all these fans leave the cricket game they had paid to see to watch the England match?
-There is a man wearing an India T-shirt yet he is cheering for England. Can you explain this?
- Is it possible to support two different countries at the same time?
- What does multicultural society mean?
- "This is England" what does that mean?
- What can we lean from this video?
- Why is this about No Outsiders?
- Which British value is this about?

There is a more detailed version of this assembly in KS2 assemblies which touches on racism and society assumptions.
