Pride

What do you see in the pictures? Have you seen these flags before? What do they mean, who are they for?

This month around the world lots of people are celebrating Pride month. What does it mean to be proud, what do you think Pride month is about?

Pride month is about different people and different families being welcome.

There are lots of  ways to be a family: some children live with a mum and dad; some live with a mum some with a dad; some gave two mums or two dads; some children live with grandparents or aunts, uncles, family friends; some children live with a foster family; some adults live together without children (are they still a family?) all families are different and all families are welcome in our school.

Pride is about different people being who they are. Not all boys are the same and not all girls are the same; there are many different ways to be you, and you are unique. You still belong.

You may have seen a Pride march this week; why do you think people go on Pride marches? What are they saying about different people?

What do we say in our school about different families?

What different kinds of families are welcome in our school?

Are people in our school the same or are they different? How are we different?

Ask children to talk about their families to show that all families are different and say that's brilliant.

Why is this about No Outsiders?

What can we do in our school to make sure that everyone feels welcome and knows they belong.
